Luke 6:43-45
“Wait watchers”
Actions indicates a lot about a person. People can look good, but can say a lot of mean things. People can smell good, but speak a lot of evil. Don’t let mixed signals fool you. ** indecision is a decision** The reality of the matter is that Jesus wants us to pay attention to the more essential elements of people by watching them- Say “Watch em”. Thus we are discussing today “wait watchers” How can we be more used in empowering ourselves in God’s Word. We sit at the helm of Jesus speaking to the crowd on the Plains, some say as theologian it was similar to writings to the Sermon on the Mount, thus a mixed crowd, but who knows no matter where you are in life, Jesus will meet you where you were. as they were following Jesus and listening to His teachings. Here he can examine their conditions, their state of being( v17).( display Luke 6: 17). He knows that actions speaks louder than words, he did see the wealthy who had problems, the poor who was appealing to certain crowds.
*Jesus was in the process of showing his disciple that talk was cheap. how do you see what someone is? How are you able to decipher the real from the fake? Ever met someone so consumed by themselves? No matter what’s being talked about it always goes back to them? It is human nature to want to have success, since birthed we have that learned behavior. But how often you’ve seen them place pride in the way? My 4 year old twins , as much as I love them…if anyone has 4 or 5 year old kids can attest–they are selfish. Why? Because they have not fully comprehend what it means to share like us, we focus on ourselves, we think only about ourselves. But the problem is we desire the fullness of life but as we go down the path never intended for us, as a result we are ourselves biggest enemy. so what we do as adults is we have to become “wait” watchers, we have to wait and make these focus points a learned behavior.
** What brings Jesus the most honor? What about our behavior that will give him respect?
One produces what one is
** What represents him the best in our daily walk? Luke 6:44** A farmer doesn’t water, does not fertilize, does not prune the fruit, they fertilize the tree (picture of growing plants) What you do says a lot about you, it says more about you then what you portray yourself to be ( your FB post compared to real life) Who you are will eventually be seen, not at first but it will always come out.
**What’s best for me? If you ask yourself the last question, it will automatically (or should) align yourself with the other two questions.
Mark 7: 20-23 He went on: “What comes out of a person is what defiles them. For it is from within, out of a person’s heart, that evil thoughts come—sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, greed, malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance and folly. All these evils come from inside and defile a person.”
2,)Fruit is evidence.
What is the fruit of your life? What are you producing (growing fruit pic) Anger? Pride? Love? Patience? I challenge you to ask your life a representation of your life? Is your relationship with people causing you to have drama? What fruits are you producing? (show Galatians display) Fruit of the spirit Galatians 5:22-23 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. “Are the influences in your life leading you to the way Lord would be pleased? Women, are you constantly “ lurking” at others lives, comparing what you have to them? release that spirit of shame. Men, are you being consumed by friends who don’t want to even pray with you. Surround yourself with people if they don’t want to see you better? You wouldn’t stay in a relationship if it was leading you anywhere, so why do the same in friendship? Matthew 12:35 The good man brings good things out of his good store of treasure, and the evil man brings evil things out of his evil store of treasure. 36But I tell you that men will give an account on the day of judgment for every careless word they have spoken. 37 For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned.”…
3.) Heart is the source
Jesus wants to protect our hearts (Proverbs 4:23-Above all else, guard your heart,
for everything you do flows from it.) We have to monitor what is inside of our hearts- what influences us-address what’s causing it. Evaluate yourself. Evaluate the relationships in your life. Is it possible you are influenced by things you spend time with every day? Refiners fire to make materials pure they would pour it into the droth, get it hot as possible ( who knows that to be changed sometimes being hot means being uncomfortable) and the purities would run to the top, the goldsmith would scoop out the drith or impurities and start the process all over until all impurities come out. what’s in us will always find itself out.
